7th inning stretch????

When is the seventh inning stretch????
It couldn't come fast enough is what I imagine my brother is feeling right about now.

Larry started another round of chemo.  His levels were 'normal' for a cancer patient which was good so they went ahead and started it.  It is the same chemo that he had before, so he knows the drill.  One treatment every 2 weeks  - 6 hours at the hospital and 2 days with the pump at home.

Neuropathy continues to be the toughest side effect of the chemo.  Dr. Stein is working on getting the right type and dosage of medicine that reverses the effects.  Until then it just plain SUX for him.  It's hard to sit, as your feet and hands go numb, and its hard to fall asleep and stay asleep.  Hopefully, Dr. Stein can quickly work her magic to help him out.

We're on a roll...

Larry is still recovering from the surgery.  Each day he gets stronger.  He is back to his 40+ hour work week.  This week he had a CT scan that would tell us if anything had progressed since his surgery in December.  I am happy to say that his CT scan was all clear!!! YAY!!!  Now he will start his second (and hopefully his last) round of chemo.  It will be the same routine as his first:  every two weeks he'll be in the clinic and then he'll wear the pump for two days.  This will last for 12 weeks.  Right now we are trying to figure out the neuropathy.  He was given a prescription but it has not worked.  We're investigating alternatives... hopefully we stumble upon the right one soon.

Still going strong...

Uhhh!!!  I have been hit by that flu going around.  YUCK!  It has not been fun.  I'm finally sitting upright for the first time in 2 days.

More importantly, Larry had another check up with Dr. Salti this week. We are 4 weeks post operation. The doctor is still impressed with Larry's recovery.  In fact, he has been allowed to go back to work next Wednesday!  Can you believe it?!   He also has gained 2 pounds!!  We'll take it!  Lar has lost considerable weight since the second surgery.  He has learned to live with eating smaller portions, although we went to lunch this week and he almost finished his meal.  But who wouldn't at DMK burger.
Larry has been experiencing neuropathy (tingling/numbness in his toes and fingers).  This is a side effect of the chemo given to him during the HIPEC.  We are hoping that it is temporary and that it does not stay with him long.
Next week, we meet with Dr. Stein to come up with a schedule for his next round of chemo.  He is almost completely healed from the surgery so now it is on to the next phase of treatment-another round of the same chemo.  I am assuming it will be identical to the last round, but I will fill you all in when we meet with her.
